Partner visits in Google Analytics, with Refficks

See the visits partners send you in Google Analytics, each partner on their own line, with nothing to install.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Google Analytics setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Partner visits in Google Analytics, as partners / affiliate, and each partner by their link code under Session campaign.

What it does not

  • It shows visits and what Google Analytics counts, not commission: what a partner is paid is decided in Refficks from their link, and never from these parameters.
  • Keep partner codes in lower case: Google Analytics shows "Dana" and "dana" as two lines.
  • A visitor who declines cookies is not counted by Google Analytics under Consent Mode's basic setting.
  • A later visit typed straight into the address bar keeps the partner as its source in Google Analytics, so its figures are not Refficks's and will not match them.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Add campaign parameters to every partner link

    In Refficks, open Settings → Links and, under "Extra parameters on every link", add utm_source = partners, utm_medium = affiliate and utm_campaign = {code}. {code} becomes each partner's own link code, so every partner gets a line of their own.

    They are added to every partner link, existing ones included, and never decide which partner is paid. A partner's own utm_ values on their link give way to yours.

  2. 2. Find partner traffic in Google Analytics

    In Google Analytics 4, open Reports → Acquisition → Traffic acquisition. Above the table, change the dimension to "Session source / medium" to see partners/affiliate as one line, or to "Session campaign" to see each partner's code on a line of its own.

    Reports → Acquisition → User acquisition shows the same by the first visit that brought each person, which never changes afterwards.
