Refficks

Circle affiliate tracking with Refficks

Circle paywall sales, credited from the payments in your own Stripe account.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Circle setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Paywall sales (subscriptions, installment plans and one-time fees) are credited to the partner whose link brought the member, from the payment in your Stripe account.
  • Renewals and installments stay with that partner, and a refund in Circle or Stripe takes the commission back by itself.

What it does not

  • A buyer is credited through their link only if they reach the paywall's thank-you page, or Refficks already knows their email. Keep the thank-you page switched on.
  • Circle's own coupons are not seen. A partner's discount code typed at Circle's checkout does not credit them; their link does.
  • Purchases in Circle's iPhone and Android apps go through Apple and Google, never reach your Stripe account, and are not credited.
  • If you also run Circle's own affiliate programme, a sale can earn a commission in both. Use one of them.
  • Whether Circle runs your Head code snippets on its checkout page is not documented. The script does not need to run there: the partner's link and the thank-you page are enough.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Put the Refficks script on your community

    In Circle, open Site → Code snippets and paste the snippet into the Head code field. Save.

    Give your partners links to your community, so the people they send arrive where the script runs.

    Your copy of the Refficks script, with your own key in it, is on the Integrations page in Refficks.

  2. 2. Connect the Stripe account Circle made

    When you connected Stripe in Circle, Circle made a separate account in your Stripe login, and its paywall payments are only there. On the Stripe page in Refficks, connect that account: Stripe lists it under your community's name when it asks which account to use.

  3. 3. Name the buyer on the paywall's thank-you page

    In Circle, open the paywall, switch on Post purchase → Thank you page, then paste the code below into its Tracking tab. Do the same on each paywall partners sell.

    It tells Refficks the buyer's email, which Circle puts in place of {member_email}. Refficks then credits the payment from Stripe to the partner whose link that browser followed.

    <script>
      (function say(tries) {
        if (!window.refficks) return tries < 40 && setTimeout(function () { say(tries + 1); }, 250);
        window.refficks.identify({ email: "{member_email}" });
      })(0);
    </script>
  4. 4. Make a test purchase

    Open your community through any partner's link, copied from their page under Partners, buy a paywall, and reach the thank-you page. The checks on this guide in Refficks turn green as each part is seen, and the sale appears under the partner.
