SamCart affiliate tracking with Refficks

Orders are reported from your SamCart order summary page. Refunds you reverse by hand.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real SamCart setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Orders on your SamCart checkout are credited to the partner whose link brought the buyer to your site, although SamCart is a different address.
  • A checkout on an address of your own works the same way, once you add it below.

What it does not

  • Every order is reported by the buyer's browser, with nothing from a server to vouch for it, so its commission waits for someone to approve it, even on a plan that approves by itself.
  • Refunds are not reported. When you refund an order in SamCart, reverse its commission by hand on the Commissions page.
  • Renewals of a SamCart subscription are not reported: SamCart charges them without showing a page. Only the first payment is.
  • A buyer who has not accepted cookies on your site, whose browser sends Global Privacy Control, or who blocks scripts is not reported.
  • The total is the figure SamCart prints, in the currency written in the order script.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Turn on orders from the browser

    In Refficks, open Settings → Tracking and turn on "Accept orders from the browser". Until then an order sent from SamCart's page is refused.

  2. 2. Put the Refficks script on your SamCart checkout

    In SamCart, open Settings → Tracking and Pixels and paste it into "Embed HTML/Scripts in Header". It runs on every checkout page.

    Your copy of the Refficks script, with your own key in it, is on the Integrations page in Refficks.

  3. 3. And on your own site

    The same script, on the pages where your links to SamCart are. When a visitor clicks one, it takes them to SamCart as the same visitor, so the partner whose link brought them is credited there.

    Link to your checkout with an ordinary link or button. A checkout opened by a script or a form is not handed on.

  4. 4. Report each order

    On each product in SamCart, open the Advanced tab and paste this into "Fire Pixels/Scripts After An Order Is Completed".

    It reports the order with SamCart's own order number, total and buyer's email, in your account's currency. If a product charges in another currency, change it in that product's copy.

  5. 5. If your checkout has its own address

    A checkout on SamCart's own addresses, like your-store.samcart.com, needs nothing more. If yours is on a name of your own, like checkout.your-company.com, add it below so links to it hand the visitor on too.

  6. 6. Make a test order

    Open your site through any partner's link, copied from their page under Partners, click through to SamCart, and place an order with the product in SamCart's test mode. The checks below turn green as each part is seen.

    SamCart reports a test order like a real one, so it arrives as a sale with a commission waiting for approval. Check that its total matches SamCart's, then reject the commission on the Commissions page.
