Refficks

Ecwid affiliate tracking with Refficks

Orders are reported by your Ecwid storefront as they are placed. Refunds you reverse by hand.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Ecwid setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Orders in your Ecwid store are credited to the partner whose link brought the buyer, reported by the storefront as each order is placed.
  • Commission on the products after any discount, without tax, shipping or handling.

What it does not

  • Every order is reported by the buyer's browser, with nothing from a server to vouch for it, so its commission waits for someone to approve it, even on a plan that approves by itself.
  • An order paid later, by bank transfer, cash on delivery or at pickup, is reported when it is placed, before it is paid. Check that Ecwid shows it paid before you approve its commission.
  • Refunds are not reported. When you refund an order in Ecwid, reverse its commission by hand on the Commissions page.
  • Ecwid does not tell the page which currency an order is in, so the script says it. Change it if your store sells in another currency.
  • A partner's code typed at checkout is not reported: Ecwid gives the page a coupon's name, which may not be its code. Partners are credited through their link.
  • A buyer who has not accepted cookies on your site, whose browser sends Global Privacy Control, or who blocks scripts is not reported.
  • Ecwid's own pages describe the order announcement. Where an Instant Site takes custom JavaScript comes from other services' guides, so check the menu names in your admin.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Turn on orders from the browser

In Refficks, open Settings → Tracking and turn on "Accept orders from the browser". Until then an order your storefront sends is refused.

  2. 2. Put the Refficks script on your store

If your Ecwid store sits inside your own website, paste the snippet into that site's pages, beside Ecwid's embed code, so it is on every page.

On an Ecwid Instant Site, open Website in your Ecwid admin and paste it under Custom JavaScript code, which needs a paid Ecwid plan.

Your copy of the Refficks script, with your own key in it, is on the Integrations page in Refficks.

  3. 3. Report each order

Paste this straight after the first snippet, in the same place.

It listens for the order Ecwid announces when a customer places it, and reports Ecwid's order number, its total, the total without tax, shipping and handling, and the buyer's email, in USD. If your store sells in another currency, change it in the script.

The code for this step is written for your account, and is on this guide in Refficks.

  4. 4. Make a test order

Open your store through any partner's link, copied from their page under Partners, and buy something. The checks below turn green as each part is seen.

A test order arrives as a sale with a commission waiting for approval. Check that its total matches Ecwid's, then reject the commission on the Commissions page.
