Gumroad affiliate tracking with Refficks

Gumroad pings Refficks with every sale. Nothing it sends is signed, so each commission waits for your approval.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Gumroad setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Sales on Gumroad are credited to the partner whose link brought the buyer to your site.
  • Subscription renewals pay the same partner.

What it does not

  • Gumroad signs nothing it sends, so every sale is marked Unverified and its commission waits for someone to approve it, even on a plan that approves by itself.
  • Refunds are not sent to the address in Gumroad's settings. When you refund a sale, reverse its commission by hand on the Commissions page.
  • Only dollar prices are counted. Gumroad documents its price as US cents, so a sale of a product priced in another currency is kept but not counted, and says so.
  • A buyer who has not accepted cookies on your site, or whose browser sends Global Privacy Control, is not handed on, and their sale is credited to nobody.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Connect Gumroad

    Press Connect below to get your address. Then, in Gumroad, open Settings → Advanced, paste it into "Ping" and save.

    The connection is made on this guide in Refficks, once you have an account.

  2. 2. Put the Refficks script on your own site

    On the pages where your links to Gumroad are. When a visitor clicks one, the script adds who they are to the link, and Gumroad hands that back with the sale, so the partner whose link brought them is credited.

    Link to your product page with an ordinary link. A Gumroad overlay or embed opened by Gumroad's own script is not handed on.

  3. 3. Make a test purchase

    Buy your own product: Gumroad marks it as a test, and Refficks shows it as one and records no sale.

    To see a partner credited, open your site through a partner's link and buy for real; you can refund it in Gumroad and reject the commission.
