Maxio affiliate tracking with Refficks
Maxio Advanced Billing, formerly Chargify, reports every payment and refund to Refficks, so subscription revenue credits the partner who brought the customer. Nothing it sends is checked against a key, so each commission waits for your approval.
What it gives you
- Every payment that settles an invoice (a signup, each renewal, a one-off charge) is recorded as a sale on the invoice's value before tax, however it was paid: cash, credit, or both.
- A refund takes back its share of the commission, and a Direct Debit payment the bank refused takes it back too.
- Subscriptions are kept in step: trials, state changes and cancellations set for the end of a term show on the customer's card.
- A partner's coupon code on a subscription credits that partner.
What it does not
- Nothing Maxio sends is checked against your site's shared key, because the same key opens your subscribers' card-update pages and Refficks does not hold it. Every sale is marked Unverified and its commission waits for someone to approve it, even on a plan that approves by itself.
- A payment is counted from the invoice it paid. A site that bills by statements rather than invoices sends none, so its payments are recorded and not counted.
- An invoice paid in parts, or a payment of several invoices at once, is recorded and not counted: Maxio does not say when an invoice is fully paid. Record such a sale by hand.
- Amounts in a currency without cents, such as yen, are not counted: Maxio gives them in cents, which does not say which unit is meant.
- Nothing carries the visit into Maxio. A buyer is credited through their link only if your site told Refficks their email first, or through a partner's code.
- Past payments are not imported: Refficks counts what Maxio sends from now on.
- If Maxio takes payments through your own Stripe account and that account is connected to Refficks too, the same charge is counted once.
Steps
1. Connect Maxio
Say below whether this is your live site or your test site, and press Connect. Refficks shows you an address; nothing needs pasting back.
In Maxio, open Config → Settings → Webhooks, tick "Send webhooks to your webhook endpoints", and press Add New Endpoint. Paste the address, press All On under Webhook Subscriptions, and save.
At the least, Payment Success and Invoice Issued. Refficks values each payment from the invoice it paid, which is what says how much was tax; a payment whose invoice never arrives is not counted. Everything else is kept with the reason it was not counted.
2. Put the Refficks script on your site
Every page. Maxio knows its own customers, never the visit, so a buyer reaches Refficks from Maxio as somebody it has never seen unless your site said who they were.
3. Say who signed up
Where people sign up or sign in on your site, tell Refficks their email with the code below. When Maxio reports a payment from the same email, it is credited to the partner whose link that browser followed.
Use the email they pay with in Maxio. Someone who pays with a different one is credited only through a partner's code.
4. Give each partner their code in Maxio
Create each partner's discount code as a coupon code in Maxio, spelt the same. A payment on a subscription with that code is credited to that partner.
5. Send a test
In Maxio, open the endpoint's Actions menu and choose Test. It arrives below and says the connection works; nothing in it is credited.
Then, on your test site with a test connection, sign up through a Public Signup Page with a partner's code. It arrives below as what it would have credited, and nothing reaches your commissions.
