Refficks

Memberstack affiliate tracking with Refficks

Memberstack plans, credited from the Stripe checkouts Memberstack opens on your own Stripe account.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Memberstack setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Memberstack plans (one-time and subscriptions) are credited to the partner whose link brought the member, from the payment in your Stripe account.
  • Renewals stay with that partner, a refund takes the commission back by itself, and partners' codes synced to Stripe can be typed at Memberstack's checkout.

What it does not

  • The visitor reaches the checkout through window.memberstackCheckoutMetadata, which Memberstack's script reads but does not document. If Memberstack changes it, one-time plans are credited only through the member's email, as subscriptions are.
  • A subscription is credited through the member's email, so the sign-up code has to be on the page where members sign up or log in.
  • A visitor who has not accepted cookies, or whose browser sends Global Privacy Control, carries nothing to the checkout and is not named. Their sale can still be credited through the partner's discount code.
  • Memberstack checkouts on a site where the Refficks script is not loaded carry nothing.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Put the Refficks script on every page

    Paste the snippet into the head of every page of the site Memberstack runs on. On Webflow that is Site settings → Custom code → Head code; elsewhere, wherever your Memberstack script already goes.

    Your copy of the Refficks script, with your own key in it, is on the Integrations page in Refficks.

  2. 2. Name members as they sign up

    Paste the code below after the Refficks script and Memberstack's. When a member signs up or logs in, it tells Refficks their email. Their subscription's payments in Stripe are then credited to the partner whose link they followed.

    <script>
      (function say(tries) {
        var memberstack = window.$memberstackDom;
        if (!window.refficks || !memberstack) return tries < 40 && setTimeout(function () { say(tries + 1); }, 250);
        memberstack.onAuthChange(function (member) {
          var who = member && (member.data || member);
          if (who && who.auth && who.auth.email) window.refficks.identify({ email: who.auth.email });
        });
      })(0);
    </script>
  3. 3. Choose this guide

    Press "I sell with Memberstack" on this guide in Refficks. From then on the script hands each Memberstack checkout the visitor it saw arrive, and Stripe keeps it on the checkout, so a one-time plan is credited from the payment itself.

  4. 4. Make a test purchase

    Open your site through any partner's link, copied from their page under Partners, sign up, and buy a plan with Stripe in test mode. The checks on this guide in Refficks turn green as each part is seen. A test payment is never counted as a sale.
