Refficks

Podia affiliate tracking with Refficks

Podia sales, credited from the payments Podia takes in your own Stripe account.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real Podia setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Podia sales (products and memberships) are credited to the partner whose link brought the buyer, from the payment in your Stripe account.
  • A refund in Stripe takes the commission back by itself, and a membership's renewals stay with the partner who brought the member.

What it does not

  • A product's payment is counted only with "Count payments outside invoices and checkouts" switched on, on the Stripe page, and only from that moment. It needs the Stripe account approved for Refficks in Stripe.
  • A buyer is credited through their link only if the conversion code names them after checkout, or Refficks already knows their email from your site.
  • Commission on a product is worked out on the whole amount Stripe charged: a payment like this says nothing about tax.
  • Payments Podia takes through PayPal never reach Stripe, so they are not credited.
  • Podia's coupons are its own and do not reach Refficks, so a partner's code typed at Podia's checkout credits nobody by itself.
  • A buyer who has not accepted cookies on your site, or whose browser sends Global Privacy Control, is not named, and their sale is credited to nobody: no partner's code can stand in at Podia's checkout.
  • Podia's own affiliate programme is not read. If you run both, a sale can earn a commission in each; use one of them.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Count Podia's product payments in Stripe

    Podia takes payments in the Stripe account you connected to it. Connect the same account to Refficks on the Stripe page, approving Refficks in Stripe, then switch on "Count payments outside invoices and checkouts" there.

    A membership's payments are invoices, which Refficks counts anyway. A product's payment (a course, a download, a community plan) belongs to no invoice, and is counted only with that switch on, from the moment it is switched on.

  2. 2. Put the Refficks script on your Podia site

    In Podia, open Admin → Settings → Analytics, press Edit beside Third-party code, paste the snippet into Website tracking code, and save. Podia offers this on its Mover and Shaker plans.

    If your partners' links go to your own website first, put the snippet there too: when a visitor clicks through to your Podia site, the script adds who they are to the link.

    Your copy of the Refficks script, with your own key in it, is on the Integrations page in Refficks.

  3. 3. Name the buyer after checkout

    On the same page, paste the code below into Conversion tracking code, and save. Podia runs it only after a purchase, with the buyer in Podia.Conversion.

    It tells Refficks the buyer's email. Refficks then credits their payment in Stripe to the partner whose link that browser followed. The code waits for the Refficks script; if your first test purchase is not credited, paste the Refficks script above it in the same box.

    <script>
      (function say(tries) {
        var podia = window.Podia || {};
        var buyer = (podia.Conversion && podia.Conversion.customer) || podia.Customer;
        if (!window.refficks || !buyer) return tries < 40 && setTimeout(function () { say(tries + 1); }, 250);
        if (buyer.email) window.refficks.identify({ email: buyer.email });
      })(0);
    </script>
  4. 4. If your Podia site has its own address

    A site on Podia's own address, like your-name.podia.com, needs nothing more. If yours is on a domain of your own, add it below so links to it from your website hand the visitor on too.

    Your checkout's own address is added on this guide in Refficks, once you have an account.

  5. 5. Make a test purchase

    Open your site through any partner's link, copied from their page under Partners, and buy a product with Stripe in test mode. The checks on this guide in Refficks turn green as each part is seen. A test payment is never counted as a sale.
