SamCart (notifications) affiliate tracking with Refficks

SamCart's server reports orders, renewals and refunds. Nothing it sends is signed, so each commission waits for your approval.

Nobody has walked these steps against a real SamCart (notifications) setup yet. They are built from the provider's documentation, listed at the bottom of this page.

What it gives you

  • Orders, subscription renewals and refunds on SamCart reach Refficks from SamCart's own server, with no script on SamCart's pages.
  • A refund takes back the commission, and a partial refund its share of it.

What it does not

  • SamCart signs nothing it sends, so every sale is marked Unverified and its commission waits for someone to approve it, even on a plan that approves by itself.
  • Use this or the SamCart order summary guide, not both: both would report every order.
  • Every amount is taken to be in the currency you choose here, because SamCart does not say.
  • Whether a buyer's visit from a partner's link reaches SamCart's notifications is not documented. The last check below says whether orders are being credited.

Steps

These are the steps as they read inside Refficks. Where one says “below”, it means this guide's page in Refficks, where your own script, addresses and checks are.

  1. 1. Connect SamCart

    Say which currency your SamCart store charges in, and press Connect to get your address. SamCart never says which currency its amounts are in.

    In SamCart, open the App Marketplace, install Webhooks, paste the address as the Notify URL and connect. Then add rules for "Order completed", "Subscription charged", "Product refunded", "Product partially refunded" and "Subscription canceled".

    Use "Order completed" rather than "Product purchased": a partial refund can only be worked out against a whole order.

  2. 2. Put the Refficks script on your own site

    On the pages where your links to SamCart are. When a visitor clicks one, the script adds who they are to the link.

    Whether SamCart passes it on to its notifications is not documented. If the last check below stays at none credited after a real order through a partner's link, use the order summary guide for SamCart instead.

  3. 3. Place an order

    Open your site through a partner's link, click through to SamCart and order. It arrives as a sale with a commission waiting for approval: check its total matches SamCart's, then reject the commission if it was a test.
